Health, Wealth & Chocolate

Luento Santoro was formed from a deep love and passion for quality chocolate by David Colic and Deborah O’Neill whose experience of chocolate now spans some 10 years. In that time they have learnt the skill and art of chocolate making, from sourcing the finest grade of cacao beans, to crafting and finishing the chocolates. Luento Santoro (www.luentosantoro.com) celebrates and pays homage to one of the greatest fruits nature gave us; the Cacao bean.

Luento is the little boy who works on the plantation in Mexico and represents the true origins of cacao; the tropical fruit. Santoro is the person who helps us source our cacao beans direct when there are obstacles and represents wisdom and experience.

Luento Santoro draws on a rich and ancient heritage, sourcing the best beans from around the world and developing a wealth of different and varied products in France, home to some of the most respected and highly skilled chocolate makers in the world. Luento Santoro’s chic style of finished chocolate is from the brilliance of some of the best second generation Master Chocolatiers.

Eight different couvertures (chocolate in its pure form) have been developed (both single origins and grand cru blends) creating over 60 to 70 luscious chocolates using the finest ingredients, including chilli, mint, Russian vodka, champagne and vanilla from Mexico, Madagascar and Tahiti. From these couvertures, eight different bars have been developed, ranging from a lush white through to a stunning 100% dark which is the highest cocoa content chocolate bar available in the UK.

Cacao Nibs and Cacao Beans have been sourced from Indonesia, Madagascar and Ghana which can be eaten straight-up or absorbed into luxuriant biscuits, cakes and breads. Cacao powder from Indonesia makes the most heavenly hot chocolate, and even an indulgent chocolate tea, the last made from the husks of the cacao bean.

Great quality chocolate has long been known to have various beneficial properties regarding health, and in keeping with the respect for the traditions of chocolate, Luento Santoro are embracing the health giving properties. Natural herbs, such as gingseng, are being infused into certain chocolates creating something delicious that can be an antidote to the stress of everyday life.

Such irresistible indulgence has to be shared with style and such sumptuous decadence can be satisfied with the unique Luento Santoro chocolate de-humidor, inspired by the 18th century French practice of presenting chocolate in embossed, bejewelled and painted boxes. The de-humidor, made from a renewable source of tropical hardwood, is varnished 8 times to a glass-lacquer finish, preserves the true rich flavour and freshness of the Luento Santoro chocolate and provides the perfect way to present chocolate to delighted guests – and you can refill it as often as you like!
